In only eight games, Rapinoe scored two goals to help the MagicJack to finish third in the league. The magicJack was dissolved in the latter part of 2011 and WPS was dissolved in early in 2012. Rapinoe started performing in the Australian W-League with Sydney Football Club FC before moving back into the United States. The next team she joined was Seattle Washington Sounders Women. They are now they are the Sound FC. Rapinoe was in France during the 2013 football season. She joined Seattle Reign FC, now OL Reign in the National Women's Soccer League NWSL which was formed in the wake of the breakup of WPS. Rapinoe gained the status of one of the top team scorers, and later became the Captain of the squad. Rapinoe had several assists and goals which helped win games. She also competed in her second Olympics that took place in Rio de Janeiro Brazil, 2016. At Rio the U.S. team was eliminated in the quarterfinals. She first took part in this tournament in the FIFA Women's World Cup in the year 2011. The contributions of Rapinoe helped to help the U.S. Women's World Cup to win two consecutive titles in 2015 and 2019. In 2018, she assumed the role of cocaptain for the squad. The 2020 Olympics held in Tokyo Japan delayed until 2021 because of the COVID-19 epidemic. Rapinoe had two goals in the bronze-medal game as she helped the United States defeated Australia by the score of 4-3.
